Remembrance

I remember, it was then

Every chance to play pretend

Never thought about the end

when it was then.

It was then when we were younger

With a different kind of hunger

Holding on to one another

One hand upon the other.

Now the rain has made it down

six feet underground

and the brown has turned to green above your head.

Blue eyes turned to red

As I looked at you and said

“Do you remember, way back when, when it was then?”
